No cover drives, the square left uncut...

The willow must wait

The wicket shall sleep

The crease is whitened, soon to be released

  Minds flicker from season to season,

Memories of a bold shot, the scampered run, a dropped catch and being out for one.

  Wisden must wait...and wisdom prevail

Practice is needed replace that bail

The lust for life, a healthy score,

A cricket tea, the want for more..

  We must season ourselves with nostalgia and hope

And dream of agility as that ball nears the rope.
