Methigion travelled to Tredrea and came away with an important 36-run win over Perranarworthal, continuing their strong season with another performance built on depth, discipline and timely breakthroughs.

 

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Methigion posted a competitive 145/8 from their 20 overs. It was not the cleanest batting display of the season, but it had enough quality at the top and enough late runs to give the bowlers something meaningful to defend.

🟠 First Innings – Methigion 145/8

 

Methigion’s innings was built around another excellent contribution from Max Finzel, who carried his bat with a superb 47 not out. Max played with real intent, striking boundaries freely and anchoring the innings while others came and went around him.

 

There was also a strong retired innings from Chris Tiley, who made 30 retired not out, adding much-needed tempo through the middle overs. His innings gave Methigion the platform to push beyond a par score.

 

The rest of the innings was more stop-start, with Perranarworthal taking wickets at useful times. Robin van Lingen battled hard for 15, while Tom Morris added a useful late 12, including a six, and Prabhakar Bhamidipati finished unbeaten after adding late runs at the end.

 

Perranarworthal’s best bowler was Oliver Garrod, who picked up three wickets and helped keep Methigion from running away with the game. But despite regular wickets, Methigion reached 145/8, which always looked defendable if they bowled well.

🔵 Second Innings – Perranarworthal 109 all out

 

Perranarworthal’s reply had moments of resistance, particularly through Dave Angell, who made 31, and Noah Rawlings, who finished unbeaten on 27. But Methigion kept striking at important times and never allowed a match-winning partnership to settle.

 

Prabhakar Bhamidipati made the early breakthrough, bowling Dave Warman and giving Methigion the start they needed. From there, Harry Richardson bowled superbly, picking up three wickets and removing key middle-order batters.

 

Max Finzel continued his excellent all-round match with a tight spell, taking a wicket and conceding very little. His four overs included a maiden and helped squeeze the chase just as Perranarworthal were trying to rebuild.

 

The closing act belonged to Tom Morris, who finished with four wickets and ran through the lower order. His spell ensured there would be no late scare, as Perranarworthal were bowled out for 109.

This was not Methigion’s flashiest win, but it was a very solid one.

 

The batting was held together by Max Finzel and lifted by Chris Tiley, before the bowlers took over. Prabhakar struck early, Harry Richardson did serious damage through the middle, Max kept things tight, and Tom Morris finished the job with four wickets.

 

A 36-run win away at Tredrea is another strong result — and another sign that Methigion have enough depth in both batting and bowling to win even when the innings is not perfectly smooth.
